3 Pillars For a Profitable Home Based Business

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

NHR Products is the kind of easy and inexpensive home business that people are looking for in today’s tight economy.

In this day and age it is almost impossible to maintain a decent standard of living on one paycheck, but in a family where children are involved it is not always feasible for both dad and mom to have a job outside of the home. Daycare expenses, the need for a second car, and too much time away from the children are some common drawbacks. This however is the exact situation that home based business works to its greatest advantage.

Home Based Businesses are great and can be extremely profitable but without the proper knowledge and tools you can waste an incredible amount of time and/or money which defeats the purpose you started out with, namely to make money and have time to do the things you want to do. This article was written to give the average person like you and I a practical guideline to getting started in a home based business the right way, and to save you wasted time and money.

My knowledge has shown to me that there are essentially 3 major pillars or values of a concrete home based business.

Pillar #1: It must have minimal start up cost.

A home based business that has a high start up cost will take longer to see a profit, and as we said earlier, time is one of the things we are trying to cut down on. Low cost will also make the home based business more accessible to a bigger quanity of families or individuals who are just starting out.

Pillar #2: It must be easy to set up and maintain.

The more complicated your home business project, no matter what it is, the more likely you are to give up out of sheer frustration before you see a profit. A business that is easy to set up and maintain will give you confidence and a sense of accomplishment as you complete each simple step in the process.

Let’s face it if you enjoyed spending a lot of time and sweat maintaining a home based business you would not be reading this article. This is about freeing you to spend time with your family and doing the things you love, not creating another taskmaster to replace your job! The first two pillars of a solid home based business are necessary for the third to occur.

Pillar #3: You must be honest about how long it will take to get return on investment. (ROI)

You can spend months building a home based business but it there is little profit generated in a short amount of time many people may get discouraged and give up.   This is why it is so important to be honest with everyone from the very beginning.  What is a reasonable amount of time to get into profit? I would prepare for a time frame on the table of at least several months.   It takes time to get yourself up to speed and it takes time for duplication to occur in your downline.   Plan ahead for the time it will take to get into profit and be patient.

You may be thinking to yourself “that’s too simple!” Let me say that within these 3 pillars there is plenty of detail to keep anyone busy. The business that you choose to start should definitely be something that interests you and possibly even something that you already have a measure of experience in doing. Whatever home based business you get involved in make certain that it is held up by the 3 pillars listed in this article. Do not make the mistake of over complicating your efforts or you will see very quickly that you will get bogged down with a lot of needlessly wasted time and effort.

Here’s to your internet home based business success.

You see, the problem with looking for the easy home business is there will not be any shortage of marketers prepared to sell you the solution and so starts the long road to finding an opportunity you can “hang your hat on” and start on the path to becoming financially self sufficient.

Business opportunities are becoming more and more the hot topic of discussion in today’s spluttering economy and many make the first mistake of looking for those promising quick returns. In all honesty, you probably have a better chance of striking the lottery.

An easy at home based business is possible but let’s clarify this. When thinking easy, you should consider more the logistics of running the business and more importantly, the learning curve. When you see easy home business advertised, resist the temptation to think of it as easy money. This will more than likely backfire against you.

Running An Internet Business

Internet businesses are as close to the easy at home business model as you’ll find. For example, internet network marketing is thriving right now and the opportunities are huge. But there is a learning curve and a maintenance level. But there is hard work involved.

In other words, it doesn’t matter what new endeavor you tackle there is always hard work involved in getting going. The beauty of internet network marketing is that when you have your marketing properties in place, then it is simply a matter of maintaining a regular maintenance routine to keep them fresh and front and center in the eyes of the search engines.

Let’s take a look at a schedule you would expect to see running your network marketing business online:

1. Build a series of web properties including a website, blog and web 2 based sites.

2. Write articles for these properties which concentrate on providing educational and training material related to running a home business and it’s content visitors can use and implement in their business.

3. Write articles for submission to article directories to gain both backlinks and traffic to your sites.

4. Submit your sites to Directories for more added link value. These should be dripped in over time.

5. Look for blogs related to your business and try to comment on the content posted but only comment if you have something useful to add.

6. Look for groups online where answers and solutions are needed to problems and answer the ones you feel you can. You need to make these answers as value-adding as possible because nothing will bring someone rushing to your site if you impress them enough with your knowledge.

7. When you make new entries on your easy home business properties then use platforms such a Twitter and Stumbleupon to report on your activities but remember not to over do this.

8. Keep your blog or blogs in particular updated with content on a regular basis as once you start to develop a following then people will be looking for your opinion and guidance on a variety of subjects within your industry.
